The ONLY way the air intake would screw you is if it were directly connected to your problem. The ONLY way I could see this happening is if a large object got jammed in the throttle body and isn't letting the throttle close completely. It would take less than 5 minutes to check and fix if this is the case. Just unscrew the clamp that puts the intake tube onto the throttle body and look under there. If the throttle area is clear it's a computer, gas pedal, or transmission problem and the intake won't affect it.
I strongly suggest checking the throttle body first just because it's easy and not very time consuming. This actually happened to me once and it turned out when I drilled a hole in the intake for the air temp sensor a piece of the plastic was sucked into the throttle body, keeping the throttle partially open and causing the engine to surge and the truck to try to move while my foot was on the brake.
