Is this real? All Toyotas use VVTi and if you have a GT-S Celica, understand that the GT has VVTi as well. Toyota's VVT is variable valve timing which Honda markets as VTEC. They rarely have issues. You need it checked out by a mechanic. I can tell you haven't since the person who told you this said that it is "probably" the VVTi. A bad ignition could cause this or a bad ignitor. Does the car need a tuneup? I believe that Toyota says 100,000 miles between tune ups but if the car has been driven hard, it could need it earlier.
