1jz was a 2.5L engine sold in japan, technically its not legal in the states but people get away with it because it looks so similar to the 2jz. ive heard they are more reliable than a 7m and also have heard they are less reliable than a 7m, all i know is these engine are picky with the parts you put in them and its well worth the time to do some serious research on forums and websites before getting parts. 2jz is a 3.0L engine with great potential if built correctly, im assuming you will be throwing this into a mkIII supra so you will have to get a new bell housing in order to mount it to the r154 tranny, might have to grab the engine mounts, and the wiring harness will be fun, as well as matching up the connections. Limits on horsepower i have heard of 1200 hp 2jz's, 1000 hp 7m's, and the most i have heard from a 1jz is 650 hp but i havn't done much research on them.
