Toyota Supra, Auto or Manual?

I want to get a Toyota Supra. I have about 13,000 to spend. I was thinking of maybe getting an auto since they are cheaper then tune it. Is it true that when it comes to Supra's there isn't much of a difference between automatic and manual? Also any suggestions of what year supra to get and how to tune it. Thank you.

An auto supra eewww. If you want an automatic get a sedan not a sports car.

13000 to spend on a Supra.....and your considering an automatic, DONT DO IT. Its so much more fun in a manual and you can just hear when a Supra is automatic which instantly detracts from its gorgousness.

Go for a twin turbo manual from 93 onwards, be weary of any single turbo ones as no doubt they are already modified and hard to see how the car has been treated

I agree with the others - Auto sports cars aren't the best - I had the same dilemma when I was purchasing mine and didn't rate the autos. Also, Manuals will be better when you come to sell them, as most buyers won't want an auto sports car - they're usually a car for purists and enthusiasts, which the manual does a much better job at satisfying!

Buying an automatic supra defeats it's purpose. If you are serious about tuning and getting power, the manual is the way to go. You would defnately regret an auto. Learning manual is easy, and you would love it.
