If you don't like the price, buy the parts yourself, and install them yourself.































Otherwise, you have to pay for their time and knowledge.































Which makes ANY price they ask, perfectly fair.

Under a grand is a fair price It should last the rest of the lifetime of the car. generally as long as the power steering pump works ok with the new rack and pinion it should be ok. Your power steering pump may be a little noisy at first (especially if it is a ford) but once the rack and piniion gets several hundred miles things should be working fine.

the rack and pinion itself runs around 600 bucks alone.

Nissan asks $1039 for the one that fits my car, without even a drop of fluid. On that basis I'd have to say "Probably."
