toyota 4 runner altenator died?

Hey eveyone,

I have a 94 T4R SR5 with the 3vze engine and I was driving down the road and the gauges on the dash started going haywire and the power locks started locking and unlocking. now I know that these are signs of a dying altenator which I just replaced but when I stuck the key in to crank it it wont do anything even with Jumper cables hooked up to another vehicle. so I was wondering if I need to pull the battery out and stick it on a charcher for a few hours or if there is any thing else I need to check. (The battery is brand new by the way i put it in about 2 weeks before the altenator died)

I'm thinking that when the altenator died it sucked all the juice from the battery when it was running andjust needs a good charge put back on it to get the vehicle to crank.

right now it won't even turn over and the starter wont even click the power locks and windows don't work either.

any hints or tips will be appreciated thanks guys
