83 toyota engine problem?

Default 83 toyota engine problem?
I have an 1983 Toyota Corolla Station wagon Dx. I just changed the spark plugs and gaped them to .44 like the people at auto zone said, I also changed to spark plug wires, cap and rotor, gas cap, and a few vacuum hoses including one that was broken on my canister.















I don't really know much about cars I was trying to get it to pass smog. It failed visual and NOx































Any way to the question. It runs smooth now except it feels a little sluggish at start then it seems to plateau at about 35 MPH. It will stay they for a second or two until i have to floor it to get it to faster.















Since i am not a mechanic, I don't even know where to start. Can some one please help me out?















It's not EFI. it has a two barrel carb.

1.incorrect ignition timing 2.fuel injection system out of adjustment or excessively worn 3.faulty coil 4.brakes binding 5.automatic trans fluid level incorrect 6.clutch slipping 7.fuel filter clogged 8.emission control system not functioning properly 9.low or uneven cylinder compression pressures
