they aren't all that desirable either. that's a pre '85 22r w/short deck block and heads. they are notorious for bad t-chain tensioners.
most ppl won't bother with a used, re-manned, or new pre '85 block. since it's a bolt up, most will go with an updated '85 and later block.

respectfully, you might be right on the going price of those, but, the first gen toy trucks are highly desirable with the 4x4 crowd. they have SAS. later gens didn't. ppl are looking for these all the time.
it's the first gen 22R/RE and 20R/RE engine that has a bad t-chain/tensioner design rendering it undesirable to rebuild or replace. an 85 or later 22 block is is the preferred choice in this case.
