the 2zz-ge 1.8 in the celica is timing chain. the 1zz-ge used in corolla and celica is timing chain. Most toyota 4 cylinders are timing chains. The new corollas use the 2zr-fe which is still timing chain.

which 1.8? what vehicle? what year?































1.8 toy engines.















"Z" or "ZZ" engines are chain and all variable lift designs are interference type.















"A" engines are belt and non-interference type.















"S" engines are belt and non-interference type.















"Y" engines are belt and non-interference type.















































fyi, most toy I4 engines are belt driven and non-interference type. only a few are chain.

Most Toyotas are now belt driven besides the truck















division you need to check which engine you have















or take it to Toyota and they can tell you on the spot
