...driving in town what c? Oil leak is coming from the front of the engine, hits the belts and gets sprayed all over.What are the most likely causes of this?

I would suggest that you have some one start the car while you get under it and see where the oil is coming from - it may be a s simple as a hole punched in the oil filter.































Also, check the 'O' ring - they have a bad habit of tearing if you don't grease them

oil seals are blown so it needs to come out and have it's seals replaced, the chances are there is more wrong than just seals by the sound of this.

That much oil coming out, I'd suspect a leaking oil filter. The fans are spreading the hot oil all over the place. Remove it and put on a new one with its gasket oiled before you install it. Replace all those belts. The oil is going to break down the rubber and they won't be any good soon. Clean all the pulleys with brake cleaner spray. DO NOT spray water on the engine or especially the alternator which will short out when you drown it.

oil pump!































front main crank seal is part of the oil pump itself. same thing. on "A" engines the oil pump houses the front main seal.

the filter is on the side of the block. the cam belt has a plastic cover. so the filter can't contaminate the cam belt if it leaks.

Check the plug on the oil pan. If it's tight it could be the oil pan gasket or a leaky oil pump. It could also be leaking around the filter. Sometimes crud from the old filter can cause it to seal improperly. Our 1992 Corolla had a leak and we replaced the oil pan gasket and the valve cover gasket, but it was only leaking a quart every 1000 miles. Take it a mechanic and have it diagnosed before you blow up your engine.
