Is it still the original battery that came in the car? cuz if it is, wow. Most car batteries only last about 4 years or so. Less if they are left to run out of charge. If it is the original battery and is 11 years old, its probably worth just buying a new battery or you might find the battery will die very quickly.

The 12 volt auxiliary battery in most of the first generation (2001-2003) Prius cars will be around the end of life expectancy now. 8 years seems to be the limit for those. The first generation main battery has a more indefinite life expectancy, with about 200K miles and an indefinite number of years showing a rise in failures. I have not heard of any going beyond 300K miles but I haven't been paying much attention.































My wife's 2002 has about 120K miles on it so it is no surprise it is not showing any sign of battery weakness. My 2002 has about 148K miles and also shows no sign of weakness. We rather often make the 17 mile climb from Camp Verde north on the I-17 onto the Mogollon rim, so if the capacity were decreasing it would be apparent.

Not if they are the original batteries. No rechargeable batteries last eleven years.
