2001 Corolla 115000 kms Engine CHECK light on?

Default 2001 Corolla 115000 kms Engine CHECK light on?
No particular event triggered it. It just went on... Made the oil change 2000 kms ago, no weird sounds. Is it serious? My uncle tells me not to worry. My friends also has a Corolla and his Check Engine light has been on for over 50 000kms so far without any incident...































Getting the car checked by a mecanic would cost me, and no way to be sure if hed make a problem up if its nothing... How can I check and be sure what it is?

You need someone to pull the OBD codes for you. This will tell you what is triggering the CEL. Usually if the car runs fine with the CEL on, then its a bad sensor somewhere.































Most places will do this check for you for free or little money. If its OBD II then they need to hook up a computer to it, if its OBD its just a matter of jumping some connections and watching the blinking light.

There is obviously a problem affecting either your fuel mileage, power or emissions. Google "free check engine light" then your cities name, there are many places that do it for free. You can also check it yourself with an obd2 code scanner such as http://www.amazon.com/OBD2-Reader-Di...1391654&sr=8-4
