My '90 Toyota Celica won't start.?

Default My '90 Toyota Celica won't start.?
I was driving my '90 Celica and got about 500 feet before it just completely shut off. Since I have a standard and was on a hill so I tried to "push" start and no luck. Before the car died the rpm gauge was going out of whack. When the car died the dashboard lights where normal. I had my fiance come and jump start and it started. When I removed the cables, the car stayed on for 15 seconds and then the rpm gauge went out of whack again, the engine shook like crazy and the just shut off. All of a sudden smoke came out of my intake filter. Please help me.































P.S. I washed my engine about 5 days ago and nothing happened then. Also I noticed yesterday when driving on the highway, I turned on my headlights and that's when this all this started. my turn signal, windshield wipers and rpm gauge went nuts.

Disconnect the alternator (electrically), and jump it again. Let it run for a little bit that way. If possible, reconnect the alternator then, and check system voltage. It sounds like you may have damaged the voltage regulator from the alternator.
