Do I need to disconnect the drive shaft of a toyota rav4 to tow long distance?

Default Do I need to disconnect the drive shaft of a toyota rav4 to tow long distance?
I am driving out of state and most likely will use a Uhaul trailer to tow my 08 rav4, I was reading their website and it was saying customer needs to disconnect drive shaft. I have no idea what that is, how it's done or if it needs to be done with every car.















Please help.

If you're using the U-Haul Auto Transport trailer that gets all four wheels up off the ground, then there's no reason to disconnect the drive shaft.































If you rent the 'dolly' that only lifts the two front wheels up, then disconnecting the rear drive shaft is probably a good idea to avoid excess wear and possible damage to your cars drive train.

in support of Doc's answer,















if drive wheels are on the ground, w/this vehicle, it becomes a lubrication issue in the trans. parts turn but no trans pump is running because the engine is off. and the shaft(s) needs to be match-marked b4 disconnecting.
