1997 toyota tacoma electrical problems?

So my truck started to act weird a week ago when it seemed that the battery died. Got it jumped and then died again when I turned it off. Then when I needed another jump so I could go to napa to get a new battery, the negative terminal caught file and melted the battery nub. So after I got a new batter, got it hooked up. My truck won't start. Headlights, cabin lights, and emergency lights work. But everything else is dead. No dashboard indicators, no wipers, radio, clock, and it doesn't even attewmpt to crank (start the engine).. all the fuses are fine, but could the computer be the cause?

The first thing I'd suggest is get a new negative battery post cable it goes to the engine block.If that post caught on fire you probably damaged or melted that negative battery and their not expensive or hard to change they run about12-20 bucks.Next check all the wires that are grounded via the chassis/frame bec you could of melted or damaged the other grounds too.Then check trace all the battery/starter/alternator and fuse box cables/wires be sure that a fusible link isn't blown or the wire might be damaged bec the main positive cable wires have a fuse called the fusible link built right into them and that could be why so many things aren't working.

Hope that helps and best of luck.If you go to parts source stores they maybe able to print out free diagrams/schematics of the battery/charging and fuse box or power distribution centre.
