if you have the 22 I4 engine, that's par for that. they have trouble maintaining 60-70mph all day. it's long stroke, cam profile, and gearing dictates that. not until 96 and an updated I4 employed did that issue get addressed......arguable.......

being OBD1 and having one of the most forgiving ecu's for engine mods that toy ever put in trucks, all you gotta do when done is pull the efi fuse for 30 secs. she'll gather a new base line and never blink after that.. that will get you 70 mph all day.

if you have the V6 there's an issue.
take it to a shop and have it diagnosed.
or you can do it yourself by having the ignition light blink at you as outlined below.

FYI,
a tune up never hurts. if you have the V6, i seriously doubt it's a $1000.00 issue.
