With Toyota & Honda its not a winner with looks, but mainly economical, resale value and reliability so it will still sell since majority of their buyers care about that (quality of Toyota & Honda from the 90's is stuck in their head, even with all the Toyota recalls) and they're loyal so most of them will buy another one in the future (my family's stuck with buying mostly Honda's since the early 90's and it'll continue, we may buy another brand as a 2nd or 3rd car but we will always have a Honda)
Nissan offers more power and little better styling, but at a cost of resale/reliability/gas mileage (I prefer Nissans mainly due to the performance, I dont mind if it needs some repairs)
Hyundai wins with looks -- their reliability & resale is much better than before so their sales will definitely go up, but its still not at the level of Honda/Toyota in the eyes of the majority of car buyers (probably in line with Nissan)
Ford has come up too but I dont keep up with their cars since I never see myself buying one (resale & reliability is probably in line with Nissan, their trucks probably more)
Everyone in my family prefers Honda & I prefer Nissan (Maxima mainly, I see myself going with Infiniti in the future if I want to move up)
