A common problem with these, according to what I've read, is the idle air control valve gets cruddy.
One can spray carb cleaner into the throttle body at the point where this valve is located, and it will often cure this stalling problem.
This is a temporary cure, and must be done about every year or two, but it is a lot cheaper than replacing the valve.
I use a fuel system cleaner, which is added to the gas in the tank to help keep the throttle body interior cleaner. Works for ME ('01 Camry 4 banger)
