TRD makes a supercharger for the 4.0 but they strangely do not list the 4runner as one of the applications--only the Tacoma and FJ cruiser. The power numbers go to 304hp and 334 lb/ft. Here's the product listing for the 4.0 charger.

A supercharger does provide a noticeable power gain but it has its costs. It is expensive to purchase and install, the fuel economy is reduced as extra fuel must be injected to compensate for the extra air, and it can reduce reliability due to the extra combustion pressures, engine heat and drive line stresses. In some cases, higher-octane fuel is needed with a supercharger to prevent cylinder detonation (pinging).
Supercharger-equipped Toyotas are still streetable and still crawl well off-road since the boost is dependent on engine speed.
