Would a minor accident void my new Toyota's warranty?
I got a new 2011 Yaris, haven't even had it for more than half a year and it has a 3 year basic warranty and a 5 year powertrain warranty.
Anyways
Some lady backed into my car in a parking lot.
Nothing major, just some scratches and dents.
Would that have any effect on my warranty?
Also to make matters worst I have another question.
Her insurance company doesn't want to pay for all the damages, they only want to pay 70% of it.
Well it is obviously her fault, the police officer said it was her fault, and Geico only wants to pay 70%.
What was happened was I was looking for a park in the parking lot at my school, I was only going like 1-3mph and as I was passing this lady she backed up into the left rear side of my vehicle.
The people I talked to in the phone/insurance company said I should have been able to avoid the accident so they only want to pay 70%. Well wtf??? I didn't know she was going to back up into me, and even if I saw her coming, what was I supposed to do? Stop? She would have still hit me, or should I have tried to speed away risking hitting another car or person in front of me? Wtf? We both have Geico, and after a long time getting this done "the accident happened like a week ago and they're still dragging their feet with wanting to pay anything" it's still a dispute. I even gave them the police report that said it wasn't my fault.
Are they trying to weasel their way out of paying for the full damage? Or am I somehow partially at fault for someone backing into me?
The scratch/dent isn't that bad, and it doesn't look like it would cost that much to fix it, it's just the principle. I shouldn't have to pay for something that I had no control over. I've got to call them back and file a dispute or something. Any suggestions that I might want to tell them that would help?
