Default My toyota Corolla 97 wont move after 20-25km run?
It happened twice. Once I stopped to fill fuel after work, the car started but it hardly move. After approx 30mins I tried again & no problem. I shown it to mechanic, he was not able to find any problem. I had to pick up my car. Next day I went to work (approx 30km), no problems. While coming back, I must have driven only 15-20km, the car was running very hard. I was not able to accelerate. Brake was like hard & after some time it wont move. I called the road assistance & took it same mechanic again. He told me that he cant do anything till he faces the problem himself. he kept the car for 2 days & tried driving but was not able to find any problem in it. I had to pick up the car again. I am not confident now to drive it to work. Need help to diagnose the problem.

This is most definately a brake binding problem. Toyota's although they are superb cars do have a tendancy for sticking brake calipers.































What happens is the rubber covers on the brake calipers get split and let dirt and water into the pistons. This causes them to start sticking and not going back into their correct position after you press the brake. Over time on a journey the brakes start to become warmer and warmer due to the pads constantly in contact with the disc and everything expands with the friction heat which results in the brakes becoming jammed on. This would also explain your brake pedal feeling hard as well.
