Very dangerous. Those colored wires mean danger. There is enough juice to kill you easily under the hood and near the battery packs. Most inverters are replaced. You probably could repair it assuming you could get it open. Identify the failure and have the correct parts and knowledge of how to fix it. Hybrid technicians earn more and you pay more, I have always said. If you bought a hybrid to pinch pennies you will loose unless you buy it new and sell it when the warranty is up but the loses from depreciation make it a looser still. Why you think the tree hugging Democrats gave huge incentives? LOOSER,LOOSER. Repairs, maintenance on most are more and replacing the batteries cost thousands. Batteries are not if but when. You could have driven a 454 powered truck by the time you are finished paying.

Repair isn't practical, and a new one is a lot of money. Assuming yours is a 2004 or later model the best price is around $150 at a wrecking yard. Some want a lot more but you don't have to buy there.































EDIT - be sure to pull the disconnect plug at the hybrid battery before replacing the inverter, and purge the inverter cooling loop when you start the system.































Inverter failure is quite rare but is not unknown. I am not aware of any failures that brought in inverter codes and were not the inverter. However failure of the inverter cooling pump is much more common and you need to be sure the codes are not for that.

A lot of power in hybrid system. Get it wrong and it could fry you, or the car. Best to pay to have it done by an expert, then if it goes wrong you have some sort of warranty
