Default Toyota prius 2006 or 2008?
I was shown a toyota prius of 2006 with 42000km and another one of 2008 with 56000km. Which one do you recommend and why? I'm intending to buy one of them. Thanks!

They are essentially the same. Get the 2006 and save yourself some money.

I would recommend the 2008 here's why.















The 2006 is the older one of that body style. The prius has been the hybrid guinae pig of toyota meaning ALOT of new systems were given their test runs on the pruis. All that to say getting the older one of that style will mean that not all the bugs were worked out on the factory side. You may experience issues with systems that were discovered and fixed by 2008. This could make or brake your prius experience.















My thoughts have always been to buy the latter years of a particular body style to avoid their experiments.















And last but not least, minor (as in usually not mentioned) performance and MPG saving tweaks have been done to the 2008 vs the 2006 on the factory again simply from having made it for a while

I would go with the 2006, assuming it is less expensive. There were no significant improvements between the two and they are both supremely reliable.

The main difference between the 2006 and the 2008 is that the centre display was improved in 2007 so that it has more pixels. Other than that it's a wash. The body style is the same from 2004-2009 the only differences being minor changes to the tail lights and where the badges go.































There is no practical difference between 42000 km and 56000km. If it's important to you, the newer one will have more years left on the battery warranty, but batteries aren't a problem with the Prius. Failures have been few.































My 2004 is still going strong at 125,000 trouble-free miles ( just over 200,000 km ).
