04 celica gt exhaust system help!?

okay so i have an 04 celica gt, ive been modifying my car little by little and its now time for a full exhaust system (cat back) i know some of you may say "oh no difference in cat back and axle back" buuuut thts not the point. point is, the person who had the car before me were idiots and when they went to replace the catalytic convertor, they cheaped out and bought and universal one therefore it had to be welded on

my question is, if i buy a full cat back exhaust will i need to buy new headers (since the cat con is bolted on to them) cuz the stupid mechanic welded them :/ a new cat con and new exhaust? and then just bolt everything together for a nice clean look OR just cut the exhaust and weld the new exhaust to the cat con?

A cat-back exhaust and a full exhaust are NOT the same thing....

But if the cat is welded on and you dont have the tools to cut and re-weld them than your gonna have to buy a new cat with the cat-back exhaust. Just unbolt the exhaust from the manifold and install the new cat and cat-back exhaust.

You could just take the "idiot" route and cut and weld, which isn't really idiotic at all, but will prevent you from having to buy a new cat. Aftermarket cats are much less expensive than a factory or rebuilt cat, so you should just get a new one anyway.

BUT, if I were you, I would just get a new FULL exhaust instead. Which includes headers, downpipe, cat, and muffler. This will make you and your engine very happy. Just spring for it and spend the extra buck$. It could include welding, which in my opinion is better than fasteners anyway.

Try to get a full system from one specific company, or to save cash, buy the headers and have an exhaust specialist bend and design the rest of the system for you.
