2010 Camry XLE "Key Not Detected" while driving?

Default 2010 Camry XLE "Key Not Detected" while driving?
I was recently driving my husband's 2010 Camry when (after I'd been driving for about 10 minutes) a yellow warning light started flashing on the dash and a message read-out said "Key Not Detected". After a few seconds of panic, I picked up the key and waved it around. The light went off and the warning messge disappeared. Does that mean the battery in the transmitter needs to be changed? Wouldn't it make more sense for it to say "low battery in key FOB" or something? Seriously, it scared the tar out of me--I thought the car was going to stall in the middle of the road. Is there something else that would cause that light to come on?

The battery in the Smart Key could be prematurely depleted by being in close proximity to your cell phone. See the reference website. Change the battery and keep it away from your cell.

likely interference from something. maybe even a close radio tower or other powerful electrical equipment. Keep the key away from your cell phone and any other transponders you may have in the car. some of the gas station remote payment gadgets would interfere with the keys.















i don't think (??) it will shut down the engine while driving. if you stopped - put it in park and opened a door - it might shut it down and if it couldn't detect the key - it wouldn't restart.

Computers, cell phones, even metal change in your pocket can drain the battery in your key fob. Also my toyota dealer says the batteries may not last much longer than a year. Go figure. Why didn't they just leave good enough alone. I want my key bavk..not these stupic electronic fobs where they now charge you to replace them.
