Default My 2001 toyota celica shakes randomly?
I"m not sure what the problem is, I just recently bought it and it's been fine up until recently I have been driving and it will randomly shake the rpm will go crazy and the check engine light will flicker but not stay on? When a test was ran a code came up as P0340. But when i took it to a dealership they said there was no code? So i'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this before at all. It will run fine one and the the next time i drive it will freak out and almost seem like it's going to shut down on me.

Code P0340 indicates a cam position sensor fail. It sounds like you're having a misfire, and from my research this is often due to distributor problems. Now, hopefully the distributor isn't bad because that could be rather expensive. Do you know the last time the previous owner did a tune up? You may just need new plugs and wires, or it could be a bad ignition coil. If your car has a cap and rotor then those may need to be changed. I recommend that you take it to a mechanic and have them diagnose it to find the specific faulty part.
