When you open the driver's door, after powering down the Prius, the headlights shut off. There isn't any warning because none is needed. Note that if you turn the headlights back on (after power down) and then open the door they will stay on. Also if you crawl over the centre console and exit the passenger's side door the lights will also stay on. There is no warning in these cases.
For long term parking, the lights are held off by a relay so there is a small additional amount of power drain using the "door open" method to turn off the lights.
Note that if you leave your key fob in the car there is a warning and the doors will not lock (easily).
