Default my 2005 toyota corolla LE doesnt have a vehicle speed sensor why is that?
my toyota corolla speedometer was acting up and shifting rough, mechanic said it was the vehicle speed sensor, but i do not have one on the car and why, is there something else that will make a code read PO500 vehicle speed sensor, there is no sensor unless in side the transmission or something else is making it do that, the mechanic said there wasnt one and thought is was strange, please help me out. bill

mechanics lie all the time and make stuff up. i heard one video on youtube where a guy at a car shop convinced this lady someone stole her transmission and she has been driving without it. also he convinced her that her headlights used a fluid. i would never trust them, they also will break something else and be like "while we were looking at your car we noticed this is broken" in hopes that you will pay them to fix what they just broke.

It does indeed have a speed sensor, mounted in the transmission. The source has a picture.
