Default Geo Prizm Cracked manifold does this effect power?
Hey I have a 1995 Geo Prizm with 226,000 miles I noticed recently that it had gotten some what louder and noticed a drop in power when im accelerating. A friend of mine noticed the exhaust manifold was cracked would this effect the engines performance?

yup!















effects vacuum. the fuel pressure regulator and a host of other sub components monitor vacuum. proper fuel/mixture/delivery is skewed. that equals poor fuel mpg and performance. if the computer can't compensate, and pre-ignition(pinging) takes place in the combustion chambers, then there's a good chance of excessive heat in the chambers. that tends to melt stuff. fairly quick.















replace it ASAP.

The performance will be affected adversely, but more seriously, this could cause excess heat to burn the exhaust valves. You might have luck at the salvage yard getting a good used manifold. The job swapping out the part may not be so easy.
