Seatbelt is stuck (corolla)?

Default Seatbelt is stuck (corolla)?
I am asking this second hand, it is my husband's car. Okay, so basically the seat belt wont release to be put on. After unhooking the electronic sensor, it came loose and now you can wear it but of course it wont tighten if you are in an accident or slam the breaks hard....so it is pointless to wear for safety reasons. Any ideas how to fix this? Or what the root cause was??

The problem is what you said...unhooking the electronic sensor...easy fix..
