on most there's a plastic access cover to the left and right of the back seat up top. that gains you access to the upper mounts. some you need to pull the seat as well. lower mounts are on the axle beam. spring compressor will be needed b4 removal. they appear to be stuff-able(rebuild-able). so you have choice there. new ones, or stuff 'em yourself.
assuming you're aware that FWD tercs use struts and very old tercs, RWD ones, use shocks.
----
for info on your specific trec, you can go to,
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/
that's a FREE online only manual for your terc. have to sign up, plug in vehicle info, and go to "repair info/repair guides/steering and suspension/rear suspension/McPherson struts".
----
FYI,
they should be replaced in pairs. front or rears. not just one corner. i strongly suggest using red loctite on lower and upper mount bolts, blue on the three smaller upper mount bracket bolts when going back together.
good luck. it's relatively easy to replace. a bit of a bear to stuff.
