That is not an engine you want to monkey around with unless you are a trained Toyota engine specialist. I had no fear of Mitsubishi G32 and G52 engines and built them in the kitchen, but the valvetrain on the camry engine is a nightmare. The best engine mods involve upgraded cams or higher compression pistons, or boring out the cylinders for increased displacement. Maybe, just maybe, you could transplant an MR2 turbo on it. That would take much more research, especially since the turbo MR2 is a different displacement, though similar engine to the Camry.
Get some better tires, pretty seat covers and upgrade the speakers, but leave the engine alone until you become a certified mechanic.
