The belt might just be under-tensioned. With the engine off, press on the belt about half way between pulleys with your thumb. You shouldn't be able to move it more than an inch. On my 2.4L, the belt is tensioned by an adjustment slot on the top alternator mounting bolt. Just loosen the alternator bolt in the slotted bracket, and pry the alternator a little further from the engine block with a lever-like tool before re-tightening the bolt.
