My 89 Toyota Cressida is overheating.What do I look for?

Default My 89 Toyota Cressida is overheating.What do I look for?
It overheats during idle but goes back to normal temperature when driven.There is no coolant loss.

You should look into your fan. Your clutch may be bad and never engages

Fan, thermostat faulty not letting the fan know when it gets hot to switch on. easy fix

That's defiantly your fan thermostat. If the thermostat is bad, the fan will never work. The temperature goes back to normal when driving because cold wind or air is forced into your radiator as the car thrusts forward. If you can locate the fan's thermostat, disconnect it and see, the fan should start running at once.
