What is the life expectancy of a 98 Toyota Camry LE?

Default What is the life expectancy of a 98 Toyota Camry LE?
I have a Mercury Mystique at 152k miles, and the transmission just went out. I am buying a 98 Toyota Camry with 157k miles, as I have heard they are far better than Mercury. How car can this Camry go? Also, I have heard that cars with a V4 outlast those with a V6, is this true?















Ok, I4, my bad. And thanks everyone, all your answers are making me feel much better. I guess my Mystique was just a Mistake of a car. I look forward to many years in this Camry.

It depends. I was a service writer and had alot of customers with high milage camrys, one guy got about 400k out of his old one then had about 250k on his current one. Just gives you an idea, keep it maintained and it will be good to you. Keep up on your oil changes, every 3-4 with conventional and 5k with high milage or synthetic. Also make sure you keep up on the coolant and trans fluid exchanges. 30-40k on each of those.

V4 thats funny, the only vehicles that I know of that have a V4 engine are motorcycles like the Yamaha V Max, and a couple Ducatis, and the Honda Interceptor.































Cars do not have V4 engines they have I4 or inline 4 cylinder engines.































If this Toyota has been well taken care of it could go 300K with very little maintenance issues, I have seen ones with over 300K running like new so I suspect it has a lot of life left in it.































No, it is absolutly not true A car with a V6 engine that is well taken care of can last just as long as one with an Inline 4.

I don't know about the v4 vs. v6 things, but my aunt had a 97 camry until 200,00-ish miles, the only reason she doesn't have it anymore is because she lost it in the divorce. a year ago. It never gave her any problems. Also, my neighbor has a 96 camry with about 220,000 miles on it, with an inline 4 engine I think, and it rides smoothly.
