Why are toyota supras so expensive?

I saw a 1993 supra that looked stock for 30K! Thats ridiculous!

how fast are they stock? specs? best year supra was made? 0-60 and 1/4 mile time? anyone wanna answers this? im dying to know!!!

The Supra is a very desirable car. It has become a collector car. Once in a while the manufacturers build something special. The Buick Grand National, the Ford Lightning, the GMC Typhoon, are all examples of older cars that have become desirable collector cars or sought after street cars that command a serious price tag. The Supra falls in to this category for a few reasons.

Even from the factory the Supra is a really impressive sports car. The turbo versions are the most expensive and sought after cars, however a lot of guys seek out the naturally aspirated cars too for turbo engine swaps. Although they weren't insanely fast from the factory, the six cylinder turbo engine in the Supra was built extremely well and takes very well to increased levels of boost. So well in fact, that you could easily make a 600hp Toyota Supra without even modifying the internals of the engine. Folks who go all out with these engines easily make 900hp+ monsters.

The Supra isn't the best platform for drag racing, due to it's power curve and it's rear axle, but it is a complete highway top end monster and few cars can hang with it up top. They are becoming rarer by the day since people wreck them all the time, so 30k isn't a surprising price tag to me.

Short answer - they are rare, and people want them. Supply and demand.

Long answer, they are good cars, have been in numerous movies, are well known for their tuning potential, bulletproof motors, high power output, rear wheel drive, bullet proof drivetrain, last great toyota until the FT-86 comes out. www.allcarwiki.com/wiki/Toyota_FT-86 - that will be impressive, it's not quite a replacement for the Supra, however, it is comparable to the NA supra.
