I changed to amsoil 25K oil. Can i use my standard cartidge oil filter for my 2009 toyota corolla?

One thing you need to remember:

you don't change oil because it's worn out. you change it because of contamination.

Synthetic oil gets contaminated just as quickly as oil oil, so you're not really accomplishing anything using it, except if you happen to lose all your coolant, which is preventable with proper maintenance, your engine might run a few miles further before destroying itself.

bottom LINE? synthetic is a waste of money, except in racing engines, extreme high or low temperatures. ask consumer reports magazine. they say the same.

The filter change interval is the same as always. Oil filters are susceptible to breakdown.

Synthetic oil is a significant improvement over conventional oil, especially in the winter (see the second source about the role of pour point) but I don't think Amsoil oil meets the requirements of your Toyota. Your 2009 car almost certainly specifies API-SM oil and Amsoil may not be higher than SL. Why? Amsoil (at last in the recent past) uses more phosphates - particularly ZDDP - than the SM spec allows. ZDDP is very good for engines and very bad for catalytic converters. Sometime around 2004 API released the SM spec that cut most of the phosphates allowed in engine oil but Amsoil stayed with the old formulation. Using Amsoil will probably void the federally mandated 80K mile or 8 year emissions warranty on the catalytic converter. In practical terms I don't think it makes a great amount of difference if the engine is not burning much oil but I would not recommend it. The engine is made for SM oil and if the Amsoil is SM now you are good to go.
