I have a 2004 Toyota rav4 is a transmission flush bad ?

The car has 48k and the fluid is pinkish brownish should I just change the fluid or flush it and what will it cost where should I go I need an answer ASAP =\

Not in this case, it may be too late, if the fluid is changed you may have transmission problems from burning the trans already. However you may have caught it in time that a fluid flush will do it good. This has occurred because the transmission fluid was not properly serviced regularly. When it turns color is has lost its ability to properly lubricate your vehicle and contaminants need to be removed. Go to a trans shop asap. A flush will do much more than anyone can do with gravity alone. A flush with inspection of the trans runs 1-200 dollars. Worth it to save what you have left.

If you are NOT experiencing any drive-ability problems, and the tranny is shifting as normal, a simple drain and refill with new filter is all that's needed.

I wouldn't do a flush.

(been maintaining my own cars since I started driving in1960)

I would say no against the flush. I told my mother a while back not to have a flush. She did not listen to me and some of the tranny had to be rebuilt.
