Toyota Matrix - Battery Life ?

Default Toyota Matrix - Battery Life ?
Can someone please advice me what is the normal Battery life last for from new ? If the battery is still OK, will there be any signs that it will go dead soon ? Thanks















1. In the old day, we need to add distill water to the battery but now it is a maintenance free and do not require any maintenance. Which one is better ?































2. To hold the key for 1-2 seconds to start the engine which is very normal... Does it means that we need to change the battery now or can wait for a while until we hold the key for 3-4 seconds ? can it be OK ?































3. Would the weather affect the Battery life ? (Canada Vancouver which is not that cold but around 5-9 C) in winter

batteries usually last 4-5 years providing they are kept charged. when the car starts turning over slower than it use to, when you turn the key you need to hold it for a second or two before it starts to 'crank' - when it starts doing this you are due for a new battery. sometimes they will start fine one start and then totally dead next time, this happened to us.

Mine lasted 6 years. I had NO warning it was going bad. I was taking my daughter to a job interview. The car started fine and we arrived with no problem. When it was time to leave, I turned the ignition. It kind of went rrr, rrr a couple of times and that was all she wrote.

on my 96 corolla I just installed it's 3rd battery. I'm in NB Canada, so I'm getting about 8 years to a battery.
