Why wasn't a front differential locker offered in the 1998- Toyota Land Cruiser?

Default Why wasn't a front differential locker offered in the 1998- Toyota Land Cruiser?
I believe a front diff locker was offered in the 1995-97 Cruisers, but not with the newer 1998 body.































Anyone knows why?































Anyone has tried to have an after market one installed?

For the US market, the 100-series Land Cruiser was more about comfort than utility. It's still a Land Cruiser, but IFS and leather take priority over locking differentials because the vast majority of owners will never go offroad. In many other markets, the 100-series got solid front axles with lockers.































There are lockers available for the IFS front. The ARB part number is RD131. There may be others as well.
