no axle or differential. not even axle beems. a true independent rear end.

do have fluids checked, but, you likely have an engine management issue.
need to diagnose the issue.
you can pull codes on this w/o a scanner tool. 6" piece of wire with two alligator clips and your keys are all you need. make the check engine light blink.

but given your inexperience, take it to a reputable ASE shop or the dealer for diagnosis.
as you suspect, it may simply need a tune up or a general induction sensor(s) cleaning. even a simple PCV(primary crankcase ventilation) valve/EGR(exhaust gas recirculatory) issue.
