You'll be able to have some fun with it. You don't need a lot of tread for sand--what you want is flotation. Reducing the air pressure in the tires really adds to the steepness/depth of sand you can drive on. You can start with around 15 psi and see how that works. Make sure to lower the pressure of all four tires and that you have a way to air back up before getting back on the highway.
You can also further lower air pressure for more flotation (some use single-digit air pressure) but you start to risk the tire coming off the wheel (known as "blowing a bead").
Some driving techniques for sand include not stopping on an uphill slope so you can get going again more easily, stopping the wheels from spinning when they start to dig, and rolling instead of sliding to a stop so that you don't have hills of sand in front of each tire you need to climb over when you start out again.
I haven't been to Glamis so I don't know the specific features.
Have fun and be careful. Watch out for blind dunes--there could be someone coming up the other side. Use a buggy whip to increase visibility.
