idle speed (engine warm, in neutral) is listed on the sticker on the underside of the hood. guessing around 750rpm+- for and auto transmission. and a tune up is allways good when trouble shooting an engine.
but,
"it doesnt get over 1,000 rpms"
that might mean the ecu is in "limp" mode. it will be a gillion times easier to trouble shoot with codes.
so pull codes. ****even if there is no light****.
directions on that can be had here,
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/rep...00c152801ccc63
then follow the yellow brick road. charts are listed under "clearing trouble codes"
just remember, codes pointing to sensor(s) don't necessarily mean the sensor(s) are bad. sensors need to be tested. if it's good, then what ever that sensor monitors, be it environmental or component(s), should be questioned.
or take it to an auto repair shop. an auto parts store maybe able to pull codes for you. then use the manual to figure it out.
edit....and your going to have to sign up to change pages on that manual. it's free though.
