Hard oil sludge under toyota highlander oil cap?

Default Hard oil sludge under toyota highlander oil cap?
We have a 2002 Toyota highlander and I wanted to change the oil... problem is I checked under the oil cap and it is rock hard black sludge blocking.. any ideas? Dealer should have fixed this when the muffler pipe fell off. Thx

that is a well known problem with the toyota v6 engines.you may try to get the dealer to flip some of the bill.they basically have to take the top end apart and clean the sludge out of the heads and intake

better to go for a complete engine clean up

The Dealer wont check the oil for any reason unless they are doing a point check or change, the muffler pipe wont warrant checking oil cap.































The deal also wont pay for cleaning out the motor unless there is a Tech Bulletin or a Recall, you would want to look up your model and research the Recalls on it.































Black Sludge is indicative of burnt oil or too much carbon build-up, they would immediately blame this on not doing regular oil changes at 3k mile intervals.































To prevent this from happening and actually will clean out motor is to use Full Synthetic oil from now on.
