Opinions on Toyota Celicas?

I'm 17 and looking for my first car. I found a 1991 Celica ST. Are these type of cars reliable and fast?

reliable, not fast.

but it's 20 years old so don't expert it to be too reliable, still should be a good car.

Yes they are, but age will take it's toll on some components. This car is the ST coupe- meaning it has the same engine as the Toyota Corolla from that vintage. Still an exceptional car in it's own right but it's also the least powerful of the Celicas. You should be fairly reliable however. That's a major strength with Celicas.

If the car fits your budget, you need to look no further. They are well built and if you have a proper service history from the earlier owner, than it should be an added advantage. Reliable is the middle name for Toyota. If you drive it carefully and service it on time, it will last you a long long time.

I'd say so. My Celica is a 2003, and it was pretty fast even before I put the turbo in.

I personally LOVE Celicas. If you were looking for an older model Celica, though, I'd suggest you get one a little older. Maybe a 1985 Celica, just because it's RWD and you'd be able to go fast as well as drift.

But yes, a Celica was my first car, and I fell in love with it.

They are very reliable, fuel efficient cars, but don't put them in the fast category.

They ARE reliable. ST not so fast. GT is quicker. All-trac is just downright quick, plus AWD. but as you move up the trims, the fuel economy goes down. But yeah, 91 Celica ST is a great place to start for a first car.
