Default Why is my airbag off light on in my 2011 camry?
I just purchased a 2011 toyota camry from a local dealer. I noticed today when we went on a family drive that the airbag indicator light is OFF. My bf was driving, I was in the passenger seat and my 4 year old was in her booster seat positioned in the middle of the backseat. My bf nor I was wearing a seatbelt.

It could be you are very light person? Maybe around 100 lbs? Sometimes the seat sensors think you are a child. Could just be a seat sensor out of calibration. Wearing/not wearing belts should not effect that light. It might also have a proximity sensor that thinks you are too close to the dash. It could be malfunctioning. Brand new car under warranty - take it back to the dealer and ask them.

Those sensors are calibrated to sense 60lbs or more on the seat. You should also be buckled in the seat for the system to work properly and the "Air Bag OFF" light to turn off. If the light is still on while you are buckled in the passenger seat you should go to your Toyota dealer and have them take a look at it. Your car should be under warranty and the service will be free. If you need to order any parts you are entitled to a rental since that is a safety hazard.

The newer cars have the ability to turn the front passenger side airbags off. Just in case you have a child riding beside you.
