Hi it would be best if the water did leak in otherwise the car would float and you would have no control over it and it could float away so you could not determine where it went.
going through a deep puddle is fine but you would not want to cross a river in a car that would be madness.
i bought my land cruiser because it has a greater wading depth than a land rover is can manage 100mm more than a land rover.
toyota make two models of land cruiser the 3 litre diesel version which i have and the larger one you have seen pictures of is the 4.5 litre version called the amazon. both have the same wading depth we also have air suspension which allows us to lift the rear up by a further 4 inches when used off road or at less than 30 mph.
