What gas mileage should I expect from a 2001 Toyota Echo now (after 10 years)?

I have an automatic Toyota Echo 2001. I got this car this year in July for a little more than $2K. It has 100,000 miles on the dash. It doesn't have any accident history or engine/transmission replacement (I checked the carfax). I use regular gas and currently I'm getting about 26 mpg within the city (Lafayette, Louisiana). I saw some comments of the echo users claiming that they get more than 30 mpg for their echos (may be for a different model like 2000, 02,03). I was wondering if the mileage that I'm getting for my car is okay considering the age or should I be expecting more.

The EPA gives the 2001 Echo (with automatic) a rating of 27 city 35 highway - brand new. here's a link so you can look it up for yourself.

So if you getting 26 around town and it's got 100k miles, you're doing pretty good.

People like to boast about lots of things and Echos may actually get into the 30's (on the highway, with a 5-speed, driving 55 mph)

About the same. Maybe only 1mpg less because of dirty gas tank and fuel injectors.

Thats pretty bad mileage for such an ugly small car. I would think you would gain something from giving up so much.

Love these questions....depends on manythings...tires.tuneup.brakes..do you have a heavy load..ac on?window defrost only?many things can play with your gas...keep it maintaine and you wont see a diff in what your used to
