That's a tough one that doesn't feel right the first time you do it. You literally have to pull it out straight forward (toward the front of the vehicle). It's held in place by a post on the light housing that is inserted into a rubber grommet. The post and grommet allow a little bit of flexibility in the mounting, but it's kind of a snug fit.
I find the best way to do it is to make sure the light lens is clean and dry, then grip it bare-handed or using latex gloves. Once you get it moved a little bit, you may be able to pry it out, but be careful not to damage anything else.
