Default I have a starlet turbo ?
I have a starlet turbo and I run it on standard 95 octane petrol, people say if I run it on 97 or 99 octane fuel It will boost Performence. is this true? Thanks

Starlet Turbo uses the 4E-FTE and its a relative old design, the gain a new engine could provide could be noticeable but this one could improve in a such small way that is not worth it.































You can use a car performance simulator to virtually do any kind of mods to your Starlet and see how it would run after changes, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com

Yes turbo cars have a tendency to have detonation or "pre-ignition" or "knock" due to the higher pressures in the combustion chamber... think diesel engines which use compression and high pressure instead of spark to ignite the air fuel mixture. In a gasoline engine this can happen before or "pre" the spark which screws up the timing of the movement of pistons and the burning of the fuel. This can be harmful to the engine as well as wasteful to the goal of efficiency and therefore power. Higher octane fuel ignites at a higher pressure therefore fighting off pre-ignition. Will you feel it in the seat of your pants?... NO... Should you switch to higher octane anyway?...YES
